Designer Inspiration - Lindsey Cannon of Lovelace Interiors

Every month we’ll be chatting with one of our favorite designers to learn more about their passion and purpose for design, their favorite products, and what they would be doing if they were not pulling paint chips and doing space planning. This month we have Lindsay Cannon of Lovelace Interiors in Destin, Florida.

If you weren’t an interior designer, what would you be doing? Why?
If money weren't an object, I would LOVE to rescue dogs and do something in the canine field. Dogs are simply the best, and can't help but make everyone smile :)

Is there anything you love to do for your clients? Anything you hate to do?
I really enjoy starting a design project from the blueprint stage; meaning as a designer, we have control over everything from lighting to architectural design elements and ending with the finishing stage of bedding and accessories... It really makes each project complete and cohesive.

What are your personal luxuries?
As a designer, we have access to beautiful furniture, specialized lighting, and stunning original artwork for our personal homes. I enjoy living in a space that makes me feel good each day I get out of bed.

Do you have a favorite Ann Gish design? What makes it stand out?
I really like the washable coverlet sets from Art of Home. They are a durable, versatile product that you can mix and match with any accent pillows.  As far as pattern goes, I love the bold colors of the Oceana collection for Euros and foot quilt.

Best place you’ve travelled to and somewhere you’d like to go in the coming years.
Bora Bora and Tahiti are definitely on my bucket list!

What role does Ann Gish have in your interior designs?
Bedding is like the icing on a cake. You can select the interior furnishings, lighting, and art, but until the bed is made, it's just not complete!

What makes you so good at this? If you asked this question of other people, do you think they would have the same answer about you as you have about yourself?
I listen and really hone in on each clients' wishes. No two customers want the same look or the same furniture. It's all about making the owner happy to live in a space that is really and truly "them".

What are three things you need to use every day in your business?
Literally: computer, floor plans, and fabrics. Figuratively: patience, creativity, and passion.

How would you describe your personal style? Is it different from your professional style?
My personal and professional style are pretty similar-- I have a modern coastal flair when it comes to design. Living on the coast in Florida, people want to bring the outside colors in, using the soft greens and pale aquas of our beautiful Emerald Coast area as interior inspiration.

What color palettes and trends do you see coming in the next few years?
I don't ever see blues and whites leaving the design palette in our area. Whether it's the crisp, nautical navy and whites or soothing aqua and sand tones, gathering inspiration from our surroundings will never go out of style.

What’s your favorite thing in your house?
Original art... always worth the investment!
